St. Johns NS is a coeducational school serving children from pre-school (Early Start) to the end of second class. It is a Catholic school under the patronage of the Catholic Bishop of Meath, Dr. Michael Smith. The current Chairperson of the Board of Management is Seamus Lynch.
The school is located in Rathmullen Park, Drogheda, Co.Louth. It was first established in November 1974 in prefabs in the car park of the Holy Family Church in Ballsgrove. At that point there were only two teachers. In July 1975 the school expanded and became a four teacher school. In 1979 we moved to the present building, Initially the school was a vertical school with classes up to sixth class but in 1982 the school had grown so big that the decision was taken to split into 2 schools – a junior school St. Johns, and a senior school St. Paul’s. The names of the schools reflect the visit of Pope John Paul to Drogheda in 1979.
Currently St. Johns school has classes from Junior Infants up to Second class catering for four to eight year old children. We now have 5 classes in each year group with 425 pupils on roll.
